Geoff Manyin

Principal cellist Geoff Manyin, a native of Annapolis, Maryland, is a founding member of the Austin, TX-based group Invoke. Geoff made his professional solo debut at 17 with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. He started playing cello at age eight, grew up honing his playing with the guidance of teachers Evelyn Elsing, David Hardy, David Teie, and Suzanne Orban, and most recently studied with Joshua Gindele of the Miró Quartet at the University of Texas at Austin, where Invoke held the position of Young Professional String Quartet. Geoff holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in cello performance, from the University of Maryland and the University of Texas respectively. In addition to regularly performing with the Central Texas Philharmonic and around the country with Invoke, he has had the privilege of playing in such venues as Carnegie Hall, the New World Center, the Long Center, the Music Center at Strathmore, and overseas in Russia and Italy. When he’s not traveling or rehearsing, Geoff keeps busy freelancing in Austin and continuing the endless quest for the best tacos.
